They have isolated it to the absense of a Y chromosome and believe that as much as 50% of the population could be affected.

If this was how Physics was taught in school, every guy on earth would be a physicist.

Because of our instilled belief in authority when we are young (like trusting your mom when she says not to touch the fire), humans are predisposed to believe certain things without requiring proof. Put this into a computer model and voila - religion flourishes.
